The Texas Board of Nursing is located in beautiful Austin, Texas. They handle licensing for the entire state. The board is responsible for all Texas nurses; registered nurse, licensed vocational nurse and advanced practice nurses. They have continuing education requirements that need to be met, as do most states.

Texas is one of the compact license states. This means if you are living in Texas and want to work in another participating state, it is very easy. Likewise, if you are a resident of another participating state, with a license, and would like to do a travel assignment in Texas, you can work on your home license.

You will find information on the compact nursing license on their website, if this pertains to you. They also offer online license verification and answer all questions quickly, which can really speed things along.

The website is very complete. There are online applications for license, renewal, endorsement, and examinations.

The nursing opportunities in Texas are as varied as the state is big. There are lots of different settings and many cities in Texas have frequent travel nursing assignments. It's not unheard of to be able to get multiple assignments at the same facility if you would like to stay longer than the first 13 week assignment.
